Misheard Lyric

It’s always a bit amusing for me to hear German entertainers singing English songs. One of the performers (a comedian) we saw during Stadtfest was singing the song Candyman as part of his show (you know that song – “who can make the sun rise, sprinkle it with dew…”)

It was fairly obvious from the outset that he really didn’t know the words for this song. A lot of them were mumbled so they at least had the appropriate vowel sounds. But we’ve all done that.

The best moment was when he sang the line that is supposed to be “Talk about your childhood wishes…”

He quite clearly sang “Talk about your jilted missus…”

It gives the song quite a different perspective… hehe

You could start a whole new trend with new lyrics a la 'talk about your jilted missus'! I recommend Julie Andrews' new lyrics to My Favourite Things, where the chorus goes 'when the hips break, when the knees shake...' You get the picture? Those are the lyrics I'll be singing at my next aged hostel concert!! If you can ever be bothered emailing me, I'll send you the new Fav Things lyrics for your enjoyment if you don't have them already....glad to see you have had some company lately. don't stay away for ever - it's too lonely for you!
